Assistance required with failover on ASA 5525

Hi, sorry to be a newbie but I have an ASA 5525 (actually two but leave that aside for now) which I would like to front a redundant network with two Netgear M7100 switches.

All my servers are connected to both switches using bridged interfaces. The switches are cross connected. As such this will survive the loss of either switch.

What I want to know is how to do the same bridging on the ASA 5525. All I need to know for now is what protocol would allow this to work. I can read the documentation from there and this kit is not in production so I can experiment.

Hi Kevin,

Iam not sure of any bridging protocols but as you have 2 units, you can go with Active/standby or Active/Active failover configurations (based on your requirements). Please check the below links for more information.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/pix-500-series-security-appliances/77809-pixfailover.html

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/security/asa-5500-x-series-next-generation-firewalls/91336-pix-activeactive-config.html

Google for the same and you find more information (external tech blogs as well). Also, try to move this question to 'Firewall' section under Security and you may get more suggestions.
