Basic Vlan question

If a client is not vlan aware and enters a cisco switch port which is set to access with the default vlan1, can it communicate with tagged (vlan1) ports as well as untagged vlan1 ports?

eg If I have a WAP with vlans of say (TAGGED) 1,100, 200 on a trunk port, will clients on other ports (with port set to access & no vlan set etc) be able to communicate with the WAP on vlan1?

Yes, if a on trunk port is not changed default native vlan, theoretically it will work. But this is not recommended, because all system traffic will switch goes on it. Better than getting rid of the use of the 1st vlan.

in your case, if your access point support a tagged vlans, it is best to turn on the switch function of tagging Nnative vlan (vlan dot1q tag native) or replace native vlan between the access point and the switch and add the 1 vlan in a trunk.

Best practise is not to use the default vlan at all.
