Same concept with details..

Try usb boot, copy ios image from usb to flash then modify your boot system to boot flash.

  •  Download the proper ios version for your switch "cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.06.E.152-2.E6.bin"

https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=284846124&flowid=45555&softwareid=282046477&release=3.6.6E&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=MD&reltype=latest

  •  Copy your ios to the usb (USB format should be FAT32)
  •  If you use USB slot0 then usb boot is

switch: boot usbflash0:/cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.06.E.152-2.E6.bin

then "reload"

  • Once you boot to usbflash then copy your image to system flash

copy usbflash0: flash:

source file name?cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.06.E.152-2.E6.bin

destination file name?cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.06.E.152-2.E6.bin

Complete.

  • Set system boot flash image.

switch(config)# boot system flash:/cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.06.E.152-2.E6.bin

  • Verify image has been set properly in flash with  "show boot".
  • Save your work -write and reload.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Thank you all of you. This is helpful, I'd try to do that.

Hi,

I tried with the instructions you gave to me. This is the result below. You'd notice I couldn't do. Any helps!

Download the code again, make sure its the right one as you stated your switch model is "WS-C3650-48PS-E" so it should be "cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.06.E.152-2.E6.bin". Try this.

switch: emergency-install usbflash0:/cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.06.E.152-2.E6.bin

Can you give to me the explanation of this error message?? I want to understand. And if this option fails what can I do ?

This is a file system error while verifying image signature due to a corrupt root inode -typically an error generated by a disk/driver failure- the system suggests to run a manual e2fsck (force checking) and its crash file is stored as verify-drivers-xxxx.log. Suggested taken action is to make sure ios image is not corrupted (verify checksum) during the download (format usb again or/use another one). You can usb boot or use tftp to copy the image. and as the last resort if everything fails then you might need to format the flash. Good Luck!

Thanks,

I'm trying to set up the commande line as you showed me.

switch: emergency-install usbflash0://cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.06.E.152-2.E6.bin
The bootflash will be erased during install operation, continue (y/n)?y

Call Cisco Systems Technical Support
usage: emergency-install url://<url>

This is the message with the commande line "SET".

Double check your switch model "WS-C3650-48PS-E" re-download the code again,  try usb boot:

switch: flash_init
switch: load_helper
switch: set BOOT cat3k_caa
-universalk9.SPA.03.06.06.E.152-2.E6.bin
switch: boot usbflash0:/cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.06.06.E.152-2.E6.bin

if it fails xmodem your image https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxTO5qxti-I

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/routers/2600-series-multiservice-platforms/15085-xmodem-generic.html

Good luck!

Hi,

I followed the  all steps you showed me, it did not work with that ios image but I made it up with the lastest cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.07.05.E.152-3.E5.bin

My switch C3650-48port start as well.

Switch#sh boot

Switch 1

Current Boot Variables:
BOOT variable = flash:/cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.07.05.E.152-3.E5.bin;

Boot Variables on next reload:
BOOT variable = flash:/cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.07.05.E.152-3.E5.bin;
Allow Dev Key = yes
Manual Boot = no
Enable Break = no

Next step, I taped this cmd line "copy usbflash0:cat3k....bin flash", but when I check the flash, this is the message:

Switch#dir flash
%Error opening flash:/flash (No such file or directory)

Why this error message?

It's switch#dir flash:/

You should be good then... so apparently cisco recommended ios image didnt work! Good Job!

ok good. It's ok. This is the starting message of the Switch...

Booting...sda5: failed to find root directory.
edison_cfdev_init: mount(sda5): failed (errno: 2).
sda6: failed to find root directory.
edison_cfdev_init: mount(sda6): failed (errno: 2).

Why this error message at the begining?? I want to understand.

System extended partitions sda5 and sda6 are not-bootable :)
