Boot system command on 6500 2t supervisor running IOS 15.0(1)SY6

Hi,  This sounds like a simple question but Cisco documented command options don't seem to match the supervisor 2T file system.

The Command reference states use 'boot system flash' for internally stored files however the IOS images are stored on the bootdisk: partition, there is no flash: partition.  The command has no option for bootdisk: so is the command 'boot system flash bootdisk:' or is it 'boot system bootdisk:'

Here are the options for the file location

#boot system ?
  WORD   TFTP filename or URL
  flash  Boot from flash memory
ftp    Boot from a server via ftp
mop    Boot from a Decnet MOP server
rcp    Boot from a server via rcp
tftp   Boot from a tftp server

Below is the file system output

#dir ?
  /all                      List all files
  /recursive                List files recursively
all-filesystems           List files on all filesystems
  bootdisk:                 Directory or file name

I do appreciate anyone taking the time to read this quest but please only answer if you KNOW the answer.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The actual command is

boot system bootdisk:<ios name>

Even though bootdisk is not an option, you can just type it in and it should work.

Thanks again for responding to my question.  In the end I used the Boot system bootidsk: command and it worked.  That's not to say the Boot system flash boot disk: command wouldn't of worked I just didn't use it.

the upgrade went well and took about 45mins.

Thanks for the feedback.

Good Luck!

Thanks to both of you.  As you both have lots of posts and solutions to your names and you've both given different commands I'm guessing they both work.  I'm going to go with the boot system bootdisk: command an s if that fails I'll boot from romon.  I'll let you know tomorrow if it's worked :-)

Just so you know, the command I posted is from a live 6800 with sup-2T.

Now, what Leo suggested may work as well.

Let us know.

And what is the config register value? 0x2101 or 0x2102?

The confreg is 0x2102
