Broadcast Domain traffic

Currently our network is one /23 broadcast domain.  We are having issues with our network slowing down just during peak times.  I want to divide the network into a /26 domain and use a layer 3 switch to route between Vlans.  Will this make a big difference in speed being i'm eliminating broacast traffic?

You are not eliminating broadcast traffic but you are limiting it to specific vlans. Currently a broadcast will be sent to every host in your flat /23 network. By dividing up into vlans you restrict the broadcasts to that specific vlan so yes it should indeed make a difference.

You might want to investigate first whether broadcasts are what's slowing your network during "peak times".
