BW of vlan costant

hello,

I want to connect two switches of 6500.

I want to use in int vlan, I assign the port (tengig) to vlan 55. (Drawing)

the commands:

6500A:

int tengig1/1

       switchport access vlan 55

int vlan 55

       ip address 1.1.1.1 255.255 255.252

6500B:

int tengig1/1

       switchport access vlan 55

int vlan 55

       ip address 1.1.1.2 255.255 255.252

When I do "show int vlan 55" so I accept "BW 1000000 Kbit" , I spend 9Gig.

Why the BW of vlan 55 is 1G and not 10Gig?

I lose 9Gig (Bottleneck)?

Am I wasting bandwidth with this method?

In addition, I performed an experiment that I added to vlan 55 more tengig port and the BW of vlan 55 stay 1Gig.

Hi ,

First of all the interface vlan it is a software interface and the bandwidth value that you seen on this interface does not reflect the actual throughput.

Second how did you do the experiment , from where did you do it ? Directly from the 6k or between two other PCs (or other machines ) connected to 6ks ?
