C2960S-STACK module in a 2960-X switch

Do the 2960S stacking modules work in a 2960-X?  The stacking cables are the same part #, even though the description for the 2960-X says Flexstack-Plus.

C2960S-STACK - FlexStack hot-swappable stacking module

C2960X-STACK - FlexStack-Plus hot-swappable stacking module

CAB-STK-E-0.5M - FlexStack stacking cable with a 0.5 m length

CAB-STK-E-0.5M - FlexStack-Plus stacking cable with a 0.5 m length

No!

1) 2960-stack moudles fit only 2960s

2) 2960-x fit modules fit only 2960x

3) cables are the same

4) IOS must be the same version. (UPGRADE OR DOWNGADE AS APPROPRIAT

5)  for a stack with both 2960s and 2960x there are two command that need to be entered on the 2960-x...1) change the port speed to 10.  2) change the smd to routing.

Yes, you can stack 2960S series with 2960-X.

I was wondering if a 2960S stacking module will fit and work inside a 2960-X.

I don't have any 2960s but I think the stacking modules are the same.

take a look at table-2 in this link.  The replacement for C2960S-STACK is C2960X-STACK

Thanks, now that I have some in I see that 2960X stack modules are bigger than 2960S.

Yes, the IOSs have to be the same version, the stack port speed on 2960s need to be turned down from 20 to 10 Gbps and the statement "sdm prefer" has to be the same on both.

I was looking for the same information and in case anyone still wondering, I found this proof in Cisco handbook about Flex Stack:

"Both FlexStack and FlexStack-Plus require a specific external module in order to stack together. In addition to the FlexStack and FlexStack-Plus modules (Figure 3), a special FlexStack cable is also required to interconnect the modules. There are two different modules for FlexStack. The FlexStack module (PID: 2960S-STACK) is for 2960-S, and the FlexStack-Plus module (PID: 2960X-STACK) is for 2960-X and 2960-XR. These two modules are different sizes and cannot be inserted into the wrong 2960 model."
