C3650 SIF POST failed

zhikun xiong

Hello All,

I had a brand new C3650 recently.  It only worked for 3 days, and I got error message "BIST fail. Abort init..." suddenly. So I followed Bug search tool to upgrade firmware from 3.6.6E to 3.7.4E, and the error message is gone. But I got another message "Reason Code:[4] Reset Reason:Reset/Reload requested by [stack-manager].[SIF POST failed]". Now I'm stuck. Does anyone have this error before? Any ideas to fix?

Thanks,

Danny

Hi BB,

The switch just keeps booting, so I only can force it into rommon mode.

Thanks,

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Hi BB,

The switch had problem with set IP_ADDR and DEFAULT_ROUTER too. I had setup many times, but it just can not ping from switch to TFTP server or the reverse. So I used the USB drive to install eventually. I don't know is it will be problem if I completely format the flash and using USB drive to install because I can not copy files to flash during rommon mode. Or should I backup all flash and sda9 files before I do the emergency-install? Here is my last time emergency-install process.

switch: emergency-install usbflash0:/cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.07.04.E.152-3.E4.bin

1.  Download the latest 16.3.X and force the switch to boot this image.  Do not boot from USB.  Instead copy the firmware (from USB) to the flash and then boot the firmware from the flash.

2.  Can I see the first SEVEN (7) characters of the serial number of the switch?

Hi Leo,

I had downloaded the 16.3.9 firmware, but I can not copy it to flash since the switch keeps rebooting. The flash always is read only in rommon mode. I tried to set switch_ignore_startup_cfg=1, but still can not copy after the switch rebooted. Is there any way else I can copy file to flash? The serial number is beginning from FDO2118.

Thanks,

Danny

Contact Cisco TAC and organize for an RMA.

Hi,

Thank for your help. I had already contacted TAC, and was told to provide information for RMA.
