Does the C3750E support advanced layer 3 and OSPF? If not, is there a license upgrade and what is that part number. If already capable, how do you enable?

Q. What are the different types of feature sets?
A. There are three types of software licenses: LAN Base, IP Base, and IP Services. LAN Base is only supported on the Cisco Catalyst 3750-X, 3650-X, and Cisco Catalyst 2K switches.

LAN Base: Enables basic Layer 2 forwarding and IPv4/IPv6 switch management.

IP Base: Enables Layer 2 forwarding, IPv6 management, and basic Layer 3 routing, including Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) stub and Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) stub mode.

IP Services: Includes IP Base and enables advanced IPv4/IPv6 Layer 3 routing such as EIGRP, Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), WCCP, VRF-lite, PBR, and IPv4 multicast routing.

Leo,

Thanks for responding. I am not technical but it looks like they have the correct license but it is not in use? Can they call TAC to enable?

thanks,

Mike R

Mike

That's only an evaluation license so even if it is activated it won't be permanent.

I agree with Jon.

Your IP Service license in in "evaluation".  And you currently can't use it because the EULA hasn't been accepted.

The evaluation license will bomb out in "8  weeks 4  days" and will revert back to IP Base.

Mike

You are running IP Base.

However if it just OSPF you need there is a feature in your IOS version called OSPF for routed access which supports a limited version of full OSPF.

See this link for details (search for "routed access") -

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/ios-nx-os-software/ios-software-releases-12-2-special-early-deployments/product_bulletin_c25-614546.html

it may be enough for what they need.

Show license will tell you what license is active. Advanced L3 will need a license. You can look at the part numbers at the following link:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-3750-e-series-switches/QandA_Software_Activation.html

Thanks

John
