I try to enable bgp on our C3750 that 12.2(55)SE1. It has "ipbase" license. And I am getting the following error message when trying to enable bgp
flex_3750_172_24_43_(config)#router bgp 2000
Protocol not in this image
According to the documentation, "ipbase" license should allow BGP. Do I need to upgrade to better version?
The "show version" output as follows:
flex_3750_172_24_43_2#sho ver

BGP is not supported on IP base only a few routing protocols. You need to upgrade to IP Services to get BGP.
Table in link shows what is supported.

Hi Pat Liu,
Phillip is correct. ip base on 3750X only supports static, and some routing protocols, but limited functionalities.
For an overview of the 3 diff licenses used in L3 switches now:
LAN-base - L2 functionalities only
IP-base - has L3, but Static, RIP, Stub EIGRP, OSPF with limited routes, Stub PIM, complete QoS,Security
IP-services - has all of IP-base, plus full L3 functionalities just like in routers (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS, PbR, EEM, VRF-lite, etc.)
Refer to this document for the full documentation and license upgrade procedures.
Upgrade procedure summary:
1. Get your PAK File.
2. Enter PAK number on cisco website with the Serial number of chassis:
(Search: licensing.cisco.com)
https://tools.cisco.com/SWIFT/LicensingUI/Home
3. you will receive .LIC file via email.
4. Upload .LIC file and activate license on the device.
Please don't forget to rate answers.
Hope this helps!
