C3750X Stackpower / Standalone

Hey there.

I am currently configuring some C3750X stack using the stackpower feature

I have created my power stack:

stack-power stack POWERSTACK

Then I assign my individual switch within the power stack

stack-power switch 1

stack POWERSTACK

stack-power switch 2

stack POWERSTACK

SWITCH#sh stack-power det

Power Stack           Stack   Stack    Total   Rsvd    Alloc   Unused  Num  Num

Name                  Mode    Topolgy  Pwr(W)  Pwr(W)  Pwr(W)  Pwr(W)  SW   PS

--------------------  ------  -------  ------  ------  ------  ------  ---  ---

POWERSTACK-1          SP-PS   Ring     700     320     380     0       2    2

Power stack name: POWERSTACK-1

    Stack mode: Power sharing

    Stack topology: Ring

    Switch 1:

        Power budget: 190

        Power allocated: 190

        Low port priority value: 21

        High port priority value: 12

        Switch priority value: 3

        Port 1 status: Connected

        Port 2 status: Connected

Neighbor on port 1: Switch 2 - XXXX

Neighbor on port 2: Switch 2 - XXXX

    Switch 2:

        Power budget: 190

        Power allocated: 190

        Low port priority value: 22

        High port priority value: 13

        Switch priority value: 4

        Port 1 status: Connected

        Port 2 status: Connected

Neighbor on port 1: Switch 2 - XXXX

Neighbor on port 2: Switch 2 - XXXX

Then I do a lookup with the running config and I see

stack-power switch 1

stack POWERSTACK

switch mode: standalone

stack-power switch 2

stack POWERSTACK

switch mode: standalone

This generate an error at the bootup of the switch ...

switch mode: standalone

        ^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

switch mode: standalone

        ^

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker.

Press RETURN to get started!

I cannot get rid of this command ....

SWITCH(config)#stack-power switch 1

SWITCH(config-switch-stackpower)#?

Switch stack power configuration mode:

default         Set a command to its defaults

exit            Exit from switch stack power configuration

no              Negate a command or set its defaults

  power-priority  Switch's port priority

  stack           Switch's power stack

standalone      Configure switch to not participate in power stack

SWITCH(config-switch-stackpower)#no standalone

SWITCH(config-switch-stackpower)#exit

SWITCH(config)#

SWITCH(config)#

SWITCH(config)#do sh run | begin stack-power

stack-power stack POWERSTACK

!

stack-power switch 1

stack POWERSTACK

switch mode: standalone

stack-power switch 2

stack POWERSTACK

switch mode: standalone

!

Nothing in the Doc is mentionning this behavior ...

Can someone Enlighten me ?

Thanks

You can settle mode by going into the stack power config. In your case it would be "stack-power stack POWERSTACK"
Available modes are power-sharing, redundant and strict. I believe you have to reload the switch in order for this to take affect.

Hi

I am sorry

The mode does not change anything ...

Can anyone from Cisco have a look at this ? Don't wanna open a TAC case for such a small issue

Thanks

Did you get this resolved?  I have the same problem with a stack of 3750x switches.

Not at all ... I suggest you open a TAC case ...

That's another problem.  The company I work for doesn't put Smartnet on the access layer switches....

Hi,

I have the same issue running on 15.0(2)SE2. It seems to be a cosmestic bug in my opinion. I have a stack of 3 switch stacked together with stack-power. The stack-power is working correctly; I remove the power supplies on the switch and the power is obtained via the stack-power (Logs are generated and LED turns amber for the s-pwr), however on the running configuration; the 'standalone' stays there. I have tried to remove the command "no standalone" on it; however it still stays at the running-configuration.

I have tried to run this on 12.2(58) and it does not seems to have such an issue. Not too sure if there may be any workarounds to remove the 'annoying' standalone command seen when performing a show run

stack-power stack PS

mode redundant

!

stack-power switch 1

stack PS

switch mode: standalone

stack-power switch 2

stack PS

switch mode: standalone

stack-power switch 3

stack PS

switch mode: standalone
!

If anyone knows a solution to it; do post on how it may be resolved.

Thanks.

Cosmetic bug

CSCui21029    3750X Stack no standalone stays in running configureation as standalone

Symptom:

When you are configuring a 3750x stack and initially putting it into a stack ring topology by configuring the following.

Switch(config)#stack-power switch 1

Switch(config-switch-stackpower)#sta

Switch(config-switch-stackpower)#no stan

Switch(config-switch-stackpower)#no standalone

You will see that in the running configuration it shows up as standalone mode

stack-power switch 1

switch mode: standalone

stack-power switch 2

switch mode: standalone

Conditions:

3750X stacks with any license level

Workaround:

none
