Hi,
you should do hw-module reset, the sup was not able to communicate with the line card 4 for some reasons. Though i guess the show module should have been showed the module 4 as unknown, but in this case it has not listed it.
Did the switch reset/reboot by itself when this happened?
Are there any crash logs ?
There is no risk reseting a module, except downtime of 5-10mins for the reset i believe.

Run this command exactly matching the case...
show platform chassis | inc pimPhyport
This will show this......
pimPhyport Gi3/17(64)
find the port that has (183) and you will find the port you are looking for.

I am not sure when the messages started as I just took this over. But the switch has been up for 29 weeks. I will reset the module this evening (i.e EST time).

I also just found out that the switch doesn't have anything in slot 4. Slot 4 and 6 are empty.

I am sorry but the correct answer is from Mike. I made a mistake by clicking on Manju. Thanks all for your help. I very much appreciated it.

LOL, my bad for assuming you had put line card on slot 4......hehe
Do you see any port in disabled/blocked status Tshi M?
especially the port which Mike helped to identify.

No worries Manju...I am working remotely so I don't have a visual of the device. In any case, Mike command helped me track down the port (see below).
pimPhyport Gi5/40(183)
I checked the port and it has a lot of output drops. The switchport is reporting at 1000/full. So, I will ask the user to move to another port and see if this still happening.
Total output drops: 576726
Thanks Mike, I will keep you posted.

Glad I could help. I would also clear the counters to see if they increment.
When I had this happen it actually turned out to be a bad module. If you move them to the same module and you still have the same issue, try another module.
