C4KX-NM-8SFP+ power requirements

Hi All,

I'm about to add a new module to a WS-C4500X-16 switch.  There is only 1 power supply installed to the switch: PWR-C4KX-750AC-R

Power used: 540W

I couldn't find any information about how much power needed for a C4KX-NM-8SFP+ module. Do I need an additional PSU?

Another question: does the C4KX-NM-8SFP+ hot swappable? Can I just simply put the new module in to the switch while it is running?

Thanks,

Sandor

Thanks a lot dhalevi, this is very useful information!

Regarding the C4KX-NM-8SFP+ module....  is it possible to install the module to a live switch, or do I need to shutdown the box first?

Thanks.

Might be late to ask but could you install it to a live switch or not? :) im facing the same issue right now.

Again a bit late and you probably already figured it ;)

Datasheet says the uplink module is hot swappable (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-4500-x-series-switches/data_sheet_c78-696791.html). I never did it, so maybe someone can confirm this?

To remove the module from a live switch you first have to request an OIR (online insertion or removal) as described in the installation notes (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500x/installation/notes/OL_26540.pdf)
