Hi every body
Let say i have a computer at home needs to be connected to internet.
Case 1:
i opted for cable ISP.
pc---ethernet-----Cable modem------------Cable isp.
my question what data link layer protocol is used between cable modem and cable Isp? I understand ethernet is being used between cable modem and computer one side of the cable modem.But i don't know what datalink protocol is used between cable modem and cable ISP ?
Case: I opted for DSL connection this time
PC----ethernet-------DSL modem-----------------Telco
Same question, what data llink layer protocol is being used between DSL modem and telco ?

Hi Sara,
It is the point-to-point protocol is a data-link-layer protocol commonly used between DSL modem and ISP.
And it commonly used on dial-up modem connections also.
