Can 4000 W PSU be able to bear load on Catalyst 6513 Mixing PSU ?

Cisco document shows that we can use a 4000W on this chassis. And a 8700W PSU would be limited to 6000W. That tells me, we might not need a 6000W on this chassis. Document also notes The Catalyst 6500 series switches allow you to mix AC-input and DC-input power supplies in the same chassis.

Catalyst 6513

·        2500 W AC-input and DC-input

·        3000 W AC-input

·        4000 W AC-input and DC-input

·        6000 W AC-input and DC-input

·        8700 W AC-input

The 8700 W AC-input power supply is limited to 6000 W maximum output when it is installed in the Catalyst 6513 switch chassis.

By my computation, the chassis will require 3336.11 watts if all modules are going to be pulling max power. So if the 6000W fails, 4000W will be able to bear the max power pull.

Here are the modules and their max power input in watts.

  • WS-X6724-SFP

125.89

  • WS-X6148A-45AF x4

145.08 = 580.32

  • WS-SUP720-3B x2

379.35 = 758.7

  • WS-X6748-GE-TX x2

395.16 = 790.32

  • WS-F6K-GE48-AF x3

178.39 = 535.17

  • WS-F6K-48-AF

144.90

  • WS-C6K-13SLT-FAN2

400.81

Is my computation correct?
