Hi,
we plan to user a layer 3 core / distribution layer design with catalyst 6800 as core and distribution routers. The boxes should be connected via layer3 port configuration with subinterfaces.
Does anybody know if it's possible to bridge vlans through this core layer without using a tunnel method like OTV etc.?
Is it maybe possible to configure one of the subinterfaces for bridging instead of routing? I know that on ASR there is way to do that.
Any hint to documentation concerning this is very appreciated.
Best Regards
Thorsten

Could you use two different links one being the L3 and one as an L2 trunk? Then only allow the specific VLANs to pass as needed?

No,
unfortunately not.
STP is planned be banned as far as possible from the backbone. Further we don't want to build l2 full mesh network in the backbone next to the l3 network.
