I have a Cisco 3560x as a vtp server and the 4500 and 2960s as vtp clients. All the vlans have been propagated. For some reason, I'm unable to ping certain vlans from the 4500. All the 2960s are coming off the 4500. The 2960s are able to ping vlans with the exception of 1 vlan which is 10.100.1.x. The 10.100.1.x switch is coming off the 3560x via virtual interface vlan 100 (10.100.1.1/24). From the 3560x, I have no problem pinging all the 10.100.1.x devices. However, from the 4500 and 2960s I'm unable to. Is there something in the 4500 that I need to config for this to work? Let me know if you need more info.
Thanks

PCs connected to 4500 are on vlan1 same as 4500. When I connect a PC to the 4500 and set it to vlan 10 or 16, it can ping out to other vlans just fine. The only problem I have is pinging other vlans from the 4500 switch itself.

Hello Dan
Thanks for the reply. When PCs on 4500 are on VLAN 10 or 16, ate they able to ping VLAN1 IP of 4500?
Network used for VLAN1 is 10.40.1.0 /22, for VLAN16: 10.40.16.0 /22. What is network used for VLAN10. Can you also confirm the network and subnet mask for VLAN1 configured on 4500? I hope the subnet mask is correctly configured.
Regards
Bharat

When a PC is connected to the 4500 and set to vlan 10 or 16, I can't ping vlan 1 (10.40.1.3/22) of the 4500. I can other vlans just fine. A diagram is posted above.

Can you post the configs of the SVIs too pleaase (like interface Vlan1)?
From the 4500 and 2960, just put in the command sh run int vlan 1
Then from the 3560x, use the commands:
sh run int vlan 1
sh run int vlan 10
sh run int vlan 16

Dan,
Can we do the following and verify what is the output -
1. In 4500 Create a SVI for Vlan16 , assign a free ip address of vlan16 to it.
2. From 4500 ping SVI ip of vlan 16 on 3560 using source option as vlan16
ping A.B.C.D source vlan 16

The 4500 is a vtp client. I can't create and SVI on it.

The management ip is assigned to the Vlan1 interface on the switch correct?
09-06-2013 10:08 AM
interface FastEthernet1
The ip vrf forwarding mgmtVrf
ip address 10.60.60.1/24. It is shutdown.
Vlan1 is set to 10.40.1.3/22. This is what I used to connect to the switch. Same subnet as other switches.

Hello,
I have the same problem.
My diagram:
Old: PCs --> 2960 --- > 3750 ---> 6800 ---> Firewall -- > Internet
New: PCs --> 2960 --- > 4500 ---> 6800 ---> Firewall -- > Internet
I replaced old Switch 3750 to New Switch 4500. I copied the same configuration on Switch 3750 to new Switch 4500.
At the Switch 3750, I can access to VLAN 1 Mgmt to manage Switch. I can ping and manage Switch with VLan 1 Mgmt.
After changing to new Switch 4500, I can ping to other Vlans from PCs connected to Switch 4500. The only problem, I can't ping to other vlans from Switch 4500 itself
I tried to change native vlan to other vlan and configured trunk port to map with this other native vlan but the problem is the same.
Thank you.
