Can't upgrade Catalyst 2960S-48LPS-L to 15.0.2X

I just purchased a new 2960S-48LPS-L. I can't upgrade it past 15.0.1-SE3. If I try to go any newer with the firmware it gives a licensing error. Then it boots into a cut mode of the IOS. Below is a copy of the licensing error after it boots to a newer IOS. The same error also appears in the switch log.

Can you please post the output to the command "sh version"?  This output is showing me the switch has loaded 15.0(2)SE6.

The switch does load the 15.0(2)SE6 and comes up to that prompt showing that there is no valid lanbase license. At that point it comes up to a cut version of the IOS it only shows a couple of enable and configuration commands (not the full list). It won't let me save the running configuration, it  also won't let me reboot the switch through the reload command. Due to it not being able to access the startup-config. The switch works perfectly running IOS 15.0(1)SE3 and below.

It gives the below errors while running IOS 15.0(2) and newer:

Anyways here is the show version from the switch when it is trying to run the 15.0(2)SE6 IOS. As you can see the Show License is not an available command in the cut IOS.

I've only had a few minutes of testing with 15.0(2)SE6 so I can't tell you why this is happening, however, I have to hazard a guess is that the "sh license" is a useless command in a fixed license-configured switch like a 2960S because you can't upgrade the license.  The command is, therefore, useless (if not irrelevant).

My recommendation is to roll back to either 15.0(2)SE4 or use the 15.2(2)E.

Unfortunately, I cannot go above 15.0(1)SE3 at all, period. I know about the licensing being fixed, but it is probably an important clue that is why I posted it. At 15.0(1)SE3 and below the switch works fine and I can see that it is showing it is licensed. The firmware itself verifies which switch model it is on and allows it to be licensed accordingly. I think I got a switch that either has a different chip or number in its hardware config somewhere that won't allow the newer firmwares to identify the switch correctly, past firmware 15.0(1)SE3. The craziest part is that the switch's manufacture date is 12-29-2013 and it cannot load any firmware past 6-6-2012. Anyways, I am sending it back.

I was told that if switch  or router lost licence file so only TAC can help you restore. or they can send you it again.

and dont farget to rate post

This is a fixed switch and the licensing is, for lack of better terminology, fixed itself to the Lanbase license. The firmware of the switch identifies the model it is on and loads the correct license automatically. I think I have a switch with something hardware wise programmed incorrectly, or a wrong chip or something. Anyways, it is going back. It was a brand new switch out of the box, so the company will take it back.

also possible that switch has hidden licence file in flash. and TAC can restore it for you

Have you tried to load a previous version of 15.0.2 SE? I only ask because I had a situation similar on a set of 4948e-f switches and had to load an older version before I could put the newest one on.

I did, but I didn't try the first one only the second one. the SE1 not the first SE. I can always try that to see if it upgrades the boot loader or something. I did check the requirements and of upgrading to the 15.0(2) series and I was within the minimum IOS version and the Model I have was supported.
