I have a Cat3560 24PS POE switch in my Networking Academy. There is no console connectivity. Switch operates as L2 switch and shows up in CDP as a neighbor. Password recovery does not work either. Nothing is displayed in terminal. I tried every possible baud rate too and still nothing in terminal. Any suggestions besides "paperweight".
Thanks
Kevin

Hello Kevin, I have a couple of questions/suggestions:
1. What are your terminal settings?
2. Have you tried 38400 boud rate
3. Are you able to telnet/ssh
Thank you for rating helpful posts!

1. standard Cisco settings: 9600, 8, none, 1, none
2. yes, tried all rates available
3. there is no config on the switch, so no telnet or ssh.
tried different cables and different com ports on different machines. no luck.
Thanks

Hey Kevin,
Well it looks like you have pretty much tried everything.
When you connect via Console, is the output all blank or does your terminal emulator display any message ?
If it is all blank, then can you try rebooting the switch and see if you can see the boot process via console ?
Regards,
Harsha

yes, tried everything. reboot displays nothing in console. PW recover procedure displays nothing. Was hoping for some back door in.. It looks like I have a L2 dumb switch now.

Did you try using a different console cable ?

An L1 question? absolutely. tried many cables and all cables worked in other switch consoles. If I connect to another switch and run show CDP neigh details it comes up as an L2 switch and seems to be functioning fine. But there is no IP address configured.
