Cat9400 Redundant Supervisor License Requirement ?

sld
Level 1
Level 1

What Network License version do I need - Essentials or Advantage - To support dual / redundant supervisors on Cat9400 platform ?

I know Advantage is required to support StackWise Virtual, but was unsure what is needed to support a "vanilla" dual supervisor Cat9410R deployment ?

Many TIA..

Hi,

Have a look at table-9 in this link.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-9400-series-switches/nb-06-cat9400-ser-sup-eng-data-sheet-cte-en.html#Licensing

With Essential license, you can do most everything except advanced features like, BGP, VRF, Mulicast, etc..

Doing simple SSO with Sup redundancy does not require advanced license.

Understood that the Cat9400 SUP licenses need to be the same / identical, but is Advantage required or preferred ?

Will Essentials provide the fundamental Sup redundancy and functionality ?

And I do understand features like StackWise Virtual do require Advantage..

Many TIA..
