Hi,
We have a stack of 2 switches running version 3.06.02aE using install mode. When we added an additional switch onto the stack the the 2 switches on the stack started to reboot.
sh log has the following message
000557: Oct 5 13:01:58.628 AEDT: %IDBINDEX_SYNC-4-RESERVE: Failed to lookup existing ifindex for an interface on the Standby, allocating a new ifinde
x from the Active (ifindex=140, idbtype=SWIDB)
000558: Oct 5 13:02:02.645 AEDT: %IDBINDEX_SYNC-4-RESERVE: Failed to lookup existing ifindex for an interface on the Standby, allocating a new ifinde
x from the Active (ifindex=140, idbtype=HWIDB)
000559: Oct 5 13:02:05.659 AEDT: %IDBINDEX_SYNC-4-RESERVE: Failed to lookup existing ifindex for an interface on the Standby, allocating a new ifinde
x from the Active (ifindex=141, idbtype=SWIDB)
000560: Oct 5 13:02:09.675 AEDT: %IDBINDEX_SYNC-4-RESERVE: Failed to lookup existing ifindex for an interface on the Standby, allocating a new ifinde
x from the Active (ifindex=141, idbtype=HWIDB)
A sh ver showed
Redundant RP last failure info as reported by Standby:
error - , PC 0x0...end of Redundant RP failure info.
Query:
1. This is not a normal behavior of a 3800 rebooting when adding another switch to the stack, correct?
2. What is the above sh log and sh ver message meant?
3. If you have a stack active in install mode and another switch is added in bundled mode, will it cause any problem?
TIA.

Hi No that's not normal behaviour I would say you have hit a bug there , theres a known bug on ASRs and 6k switch series exact same as that output from certain configurations being applied to it
I checked your release I don't see anything on it regarding it but does not mean you have not hit something, you could TAC it or take a chance and move up to the safe harbour image of 3.6.3E if its causing you issues

Hi,
Was going to log a call with TAC but we do not have support.
Have a look at this
http://mixvegrice.blogspot.com.au/2016/05/adding-new-cisco-3850-to-existing-stack.html
We have since upgraded the switch. Have not inserted any switches nor have I tested it. sorry
Thanks.
