Hello, we will be replacing our present 4500 cat OS switch with 4500 IOS. I request to know if 4500 switches come with IOS inbuilt or there is some code conversion needed from Cat OS to IOS.

lastly, the configuration now runs on Cat OS. it will remain same with no changes. But what are the various ways to convert the configuration from Cat OS to IOS for the new 4500 switch and which way is the best & easiest.

Thanks in advance.

There is a conversion tool for the 6500's located here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_tech_note09186a0080816fbc.shtml

I would highly recommend only using a tool like this as a reference.  It is always best to do manual config conversion, but you can utilize the tool to validate commands or to get an idea of how to convert certain commands.  When you are at the point of converting from CatOS to IOS, you have a great chance to identify ways to optimize the configuration.

Hope this helps,

Matt

I have never seen any documentation about converting C4500's software from CatOS to IOS.
