Hi,
From the show interface of a catalyst 6513, there is a high number of âPAUSE outputâ
what does it mean?
What is the effect of it?
What should I do for this?
Will it cause occation ping drop?
This is my capture.
5 minute input rate 78000 bits/sec, 32 packets/sec
5 minute output rate 2767000 bits/sec, 550 packets/sec
4282909181 packets input, 1176591311652 bytes, 0 no buffer
Received 80874266 broadcasts (75348550 multicasts)
0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
0 input errors, 0 CRC, 2 frame, 0 overrun, 0 ignored
0 watchdog, 0 multicast, 6 pause input
0 input packets with dribble condition detected

Hi,
1.The Pause control counter indicates the number of times the router requests another router to slow the traffic.
2.For example, two routers, Router A and Router B, are connected through a link with flow control enabled. If Router B faces a traffic burst, Router B sends a Pause output packet to inform Router A to slow the traffic because the link is oversubscribed. At that time, Router A receives a Pause input packet that informs it of the request sent by Router B
3.Pause output / input packets are not a problem or an error.
4.They are simply flow control packets between two devices.
5.In your case, output PAUSE, this device is sending PAUSE requests to peer device.
6.It will not cause ping drop.
HTH...rate if helpful.

Thanks,
I would like to do more reading regarding the error on interface, is there any link that I can refer to?
