Catalyst 9500-40X - Stackwise Virtual soon?

I'm looking to implement a couple 9500-40Xs with Network Advantage as core switches at two smaller locations. Any dates on when the 40Xs will support stackwise-virtual? I see, at least based on the release notes, that only the 24 port 40G model supports it currently.

Starting with release 16.8.1a which has been released April 6th 2018, the feature is now also supported on the following models of the Cisco Catalyst 9500 Series Switches:
C9500-24Q, C9500-12Q, C9500-40X, C9500-16X
Please consider that you can use the 40Gbps interfaces as SVL links yet.

I am wondering if its the fact its Easter delaying it of if they had a problem with the release. Its now 2nd April and not there. I have been waiting on its release all month.

I've had a pair of C9500-40X switches in a stackwise-virtual configuration for a few weeks now.  We're running 16.6.2b code.

SFM-9500-DIST#show stackwise-virtual
Stackwise Virtual Configuration:
--------------------------------
Stackwise Virtual : Enabled
Domain Number : 255

Switch Stackwise Virtual Link Ports
------ ---------------------- ------
1 1 TenGigabitEthernet1/0/39
                                TenGigabitEthernet1/0/40
2 1 TenGigabitEthernet2/0/39
                                TenGigabitEthernet2/0/40

SFM-9500-DIST#
Switch Ports Model SW Version SW Image Mode
------ ----- ----- ---------- ---------- ----
     1 50 C9500-40X 16.6.2b CAT9K_IOSXE INSTALL
*    2 50    C9500-40X          16.6.2b           CAT9K_IOSXE           INSTALL

Does it working properly?

We are also running 16.6.2 with Stackwide-virtual on a pair of 9500-40Xs but the upgrade to 16.6.3 does NOT have stackwise-virtual commands available, at least not for the 9500-40Xs.

Stackwise virtual support for 9500-40X requires at least 16.8.1a which was just recently released.

Currently it is not possible to using a 40Gbps Interfaces as SVL link.

Any idea why it isn't supported on the 40G links yet ?
Could it be that both 40G interfaces are terminated on the same ASIC, and therefore not really redundant ?

Just tried to configure it but failed. Activating VSL on a 40G interface triggers an error message saying that this interface is not supported

Hi David,

I too, have same model Cisco 9500-40X series with IOS Image 16.6.2b whereas i am unable to do stackwise virtual configuration. can you please help me with guide.

Thanks

Upgrade to 16.8. Stackwise-virtual is working on that code release without any issues for us so far.

Hi

As I remember Virtual Stackwise is supported on C9500-24Q only.
