Greetings!
We recently purchased Cisco Catalyst 2960 48 port PST-L switch.
We want to use it with LG-Ericsson IPECS telephone station and terminals (also recently purchased).
As I see from reading cisco guides, voice vlan feature can be used only with Cisco IP Phones (because of CDP), correct me if I'm wrong.
So how can I divide voice and data traffic using cisco Catalyst switch?
Should I use switchport trunk feature instead or just place all the traffic in same vlan?
I would like to find some elegant solution for this.
Best regards,
Shevchuk K.

Hello Shevhuk,
verify if LLDP MED is supported on the ericsson phones, if so LLDP can take the role of CDP in multi vendor context
LLDP MED should be supported in recent IOS images for C2960
see
if LLDP is not supported on phones, using a trunk port that carries data and voice vlan is recommeded
Hope to help
Giuseppe

Hi Shevchuk,
Here is doc that describes Avaya phone with Cisco switches configuration.
I am assuming it is the same for LG-Ericsson phones.
