CGS2520 consol connection triggers false alarms

Adam Rhodes

Everytime the console port is plugged in, the alarm contacts (1-4) randomly assert (trigger) and then clear themselves in random orders. Nothing is plugged into the ALARM port and all Alarm setting are default. Below is the syslog message and Alarm Settings:

CGS2520-C#show env all

Hello again.

With the help of my local Cisco engineer we found out that the problem is occuring when the device is NOT Grounded.

Try grounding the device and see if that helps.

It solved the same problem with my CGSs.

Cheers,

Kalin

I have exactly the same problem, but with CGS2520. I do not have it with CGR2010 with ESW module.

Anyone with a solution / workaround?

When I log into the switch with telnet and unplug the console cable all alarm triggers stop and everyting is fine.

The IOS version is:

cgs2520-ipservicesk9-mz.122-58.EY2.bin

Please help.

Thanks

Kalin

My apologies from the first post. I did mean the CGS2520. The CGR2010 does NOT have an alarm port. The grounding solution does seem valid as the alarms went away after properly racking the CGS.

Thank you for your work Kalin!
