Change MTU size to Jumbo Frames on Port Channel between Nexus 9ks and 4500X VSS

I have a 4500X VSS acting as the core L3 switching in our data center.   The VSS is connected via 4 port 10g port channel to a pair of Nexus 9272s using vPC.   The MTU is currently 1500 but needs to be jumbo frames.

The system setting for jumbo frames on the Nexus is 9216.

Can I set the MTU size dynamically on the port-channel on the 4500X side and the Nexus side without taking the channel down?

Have you tried to change the MTU in the end? I'm more or less in the same situation, with a pair of N5Ks in place of the 4500X VSS. The N5Ks have Jumbo Frames already enabled, while the N9Ks have MTU 1500 (except for the peer link and peer keepalive link on which I set the Jumbo Frame during the first configuration).

...but he doesn't explain if the port-channel stays up while changing the mtu on both the vPC peers...
