Cisco 1000V w/ Hyper-V

So from my understanding, you can only use the Cisco 1000V with Server 2012 which runs Hyper-V version 3.  Is this correct?  We are currently running Server 2008 R2 enviroment and have need for the 1000V.  We have layer 2 performance issues with our VMs and I was thinking 1000V would be an excellent add-on to the network.

What is everybody using for their virtual switch in the Hyper-V version 2 environment?  Seems like the virtual switch included is pretty basic.

Any thoughts?

wow that took awhile for somebody to respond.  thanks.

I hope your just using  hyper v in a lab, VMware is still king of the data center.

I totally agree!  I've tried to convince the customer to use VMware, but they like the fact that Hyper-V is free.  But all in all, it's going to cost them some money to get the 1000V up and running with Server 2012 from a licensing standpoint.

I'm currently working on the 1000V in my lab, and it's just awesome!

Hi Evan,

We use Nexus 1000v with VMware 5.1 and works fine!!!

Good luck with Hyper V, I'll begin to test this solution in the coming months.

Best regards.
