Hello,

what can you not ping, the management IP address of a layer 2 switch ? An SVI on a layer 3 switch ? From where, clients on the same subnet or on another subnet ? We need more details on your topology, also, post the configuration of the 2960...

Hello,

what do you mean with the below:

--> and the switch is VLAN 1 also configured different VLAN in port

there is no problem for a client, only the issue some time switch ip not ping

could not get online <--

What is the problem ? You cannot ping the IP address of VLAN 1 ? From where ? What do you mean by 'could not get online' ?

Also, what is the uptime of the switch ?

Posting the config with all of the IP address information removed makes it very difficult to determine why you can not ping the switch. Would you post the output of show ip interface brief and of show ip route from the switch?

still basic question remain not answered, what IP not pingable from where to where ( what is source and what is the destination?

hello,

sorry for late reply, many answers are pending,

switch ip is 165.122.3.7 255.255.0.0 VLAN1, the switch uplink from direct core switch fiber link connection, core switch also VLAN 1 165.122.1.180 255.255.0.0

Please note: sometimes the switch (165.122.3.7) won't be connected through telnet, same time i can see switch IP is not ping

but surprised many devices are ( Cisco switch's, server's, PC's, Printers,) connected through the switch,

but when there is a ping drop, there is no any disturbs for the above device's

that is not the full output of 'show ver'. Issue the command again and check what the uptime of the switch is. If it has been up for a long time, sometimes a simple reload of the device helps...

Hello,

--> 56toB35Tower_SW01 uptime is 1 week, 5 hours, 49 minutes

Check the same for the other (and any intermediate switches). Long uptimes would be > 1 year...

Also, check if the CPU utilization is high when the ping doesn't work. In general, ICMP traffic is handled as low priority, so when the CPU load is very high, packets can get dropped...

hello,

Here i submitted 2 switch details, which is connected the problem switch 165.122.3.7

there is 2 different up time.

Thank you for posting information showing that the IP address of the switch is 165.122.3.7. Can you confirm that this is the IP address that you are attempting to ping? Would you post the output of show ip route and of show arp (or perhaps show ip arp) from the switch?

You have commented that when you are not able to ping the switch that connected devices seem to continue to work, despite the problem. This is to be expected. The connected devices are dependent on the switch for layer 2 forwarding. The problem that you are experiencing is with the layer 3 management interface of the switch. The management interface and whether it is working or not do not have anything to do with the layer 2 forwarding of the switch.
