Cisco 2960CX and Cisco IP Phones 7821

Hello;

I have a Cisco Catalyst 2960CX, configure vlan 1 data and vlan 2 voice. When I connect a phone it is grabbing an IP address from the data vlan and not the voice vlan.

Cisco 891F ----> Catalyst 2960CX

891F - Trunk interface, vtp mode server, I also set the domain name

2960CX - Trunk interface, vtp mode client, I know the trunk and VTP are working because I see the name of the VLAN coming from the router.

To add a wrinkle 2 of 3 phones connected correctly 1 did not.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sean

Hi,

Make sure the gateways and masks are correct for both vlans.

Also, it is usually not best practice to use the native vlan (vlan1).

Are the scopes on the router? Can you post the config?

HTH

Vlan is configured on router. DHCP scopes are on a Microsoft server over the WAN.

By native vlan, do you mean that I should configure different vlans altogether say Vlan 100 and 200 for example.

Here is the config.

interface GigabitEthernet0
description Connected to  - Int G0/10
switchport mode trunk
no ip address
duplex full
speed 1000
auto qos voip trust
spanning-tree portfast
service-policy output AutoQoS-Policy-Trust
end

sh vtp stat
VTP Version : 2
Configuration Revision : 1
Maximum VLANs supported locally : 18
Number of existing VLANs : 6
VTP Operating Mode : Server
VTP Domain Name : ncapik11
VTP Pruning Mode : Disabled
VTP V2 Mode : Disabled
VTP Traps Generation : Enabled
MD5 digest : 0x7D 0x5C 0x12 0x60 0x52 0x3A 0xC4 0x8C
Configuration last modified by 10.139.136.1 at 6-1-16 18:30:30
Local updater ID is 10.139.136.1 on interface Vl1 (lowest numbered VLAN interface found)

Switch

interface GigabitEthernet0/10
description Connected to ncapik11rt01 - Int G0
switchport mode trunk

end

ncapik11sw01#sh vtp stat

VTP version running : 1
VTP Domain Name : ncapik11
VTP Pruning Mode : Disabled

Correct. 100 and 200 would be fine.

Can you post the IP config or just "sh run" from the router?
