You DON'T configure anything.  The only important item to make sure is the replacement switch must have the same IOS version as the stack.

When adding the replacement switch to the stack make sure the replacement switch is POWERED OFF before connecting the stacking cables.  After the stacking cables have been connected (at least one) then power up the replacement switch.  The configuration of the stack will be pushed to the replacement switch.

Hi Leo Laohoo,

Thank you for support !!

While replacing Mater switch, i have to keep other switch powered on. As per my understanding, out of 4 switches, other switch will become master once Master switch goes down. so when i replace master switch it will not become master again.

so if i want replaced switch to be master, i have to reload all switches. right?

Can you share document regarding this?

So if the replacement switch is to be the master then the switch priority needs to be configured.

1.  Add the switch to the stack;

2.  Power up the replacement switch;

Once the replacement switch joins the stack;

3.  Configure the stack priority of the new switch;

4.  Reboot the entire stack and the new replacement switch will become stack master.
