Hello,

I have three cisco 3650 switches that lost power this morning.

Two booted as usual but one of them is stuck in a boot loop.

When connected via console I see this.

Booting...
Interface GE 0 link down***ERROR: PHY link is down
The "IP_ADDR" environment variable is not set.

Booting...

I fail to see how I can interrupt this process or what is actually wrong.

Also I could not find any case here where the boot process was interrupted so early.

Anybody seen this before and know how to resolve this?

Thanks,

Simon

Hi,

It could be a software failure after the blackout, you could make a record of all the process with Putty in order to see what is going on.

Hi Julio,

thanks a lot for your input!

What you see is actually all that is happening on the switch.

Except there is another level I'm not aware of.

How would you do the recording you advised?

Many Thanks,

Simon

Hi

You are welcome,

Please open the attachment, with that you will create a notepad file so every line you see on the screen will be saved on that file.

Probably you will need to re upload the image on the device or open a case with the Cisco TAC in order to verify it deeply based on the information saved in the notepad file.

:-)

Hi,

thanks again to everyone who tried to help.

Hoping this will help others.

Even after setting the switch in express setup to be able to get to the IOS again it was not possible to work on it.

In the end I had to replace the hardware.

Best,

Simon
