Cisco 3750+ High cpu + HULC DAI Process

Hi Guys,

We are facing high cpu utilization issue on our 3750 switch. I checked the processes and observed that "HULC DAI Process " is taking more cpu.

I have upgraded the switch with latest IOS image ie 12.2(55)SE12

#show processes cpu sorted | ex 0.00
CPU utilization for five seconds: 88%/8%; one minute: 58%; five minutes: 55%
 PID Runtime(ms)   Invoked      uSecs   5Sec   1Min   5Min TTY Process
 185     7558046  10184197        742 56.06% 29.86% 30.37%   0 HULC DAI Process

After some time it came to normal but its happening again & again.

Pls suggest.

PFA.

Regards,

Vijay

Hi Leo,

I Appreciate you for your reply.

I was suspecting some bug with my old IOS image ie 12.2(55)SE8 so I have upgraded it with Cisco recommended IOS image ie 12.2(55)SE12.

Still you are suspecting that these bugs are hitting here.??

Regards,

Vijay

Hi

it's said in the bug page:
No release planned to fix this bug

Raise a TAC Case so they can provide what version this bug gets fixed in.

BTW, there's a good chance these bugs would have little impact to normal operations. Remember, CPU processes can be prioritized, and if this process is of a low priority, its actual operational impact would be negligible.

Hi Joseph

i worry about our monitoring system which triggers incidents on the CPU utilization spikes continuously.

It's extremely annoying. There are thousands of the devices in monitoring configured with similar thresholds etc, so that tuning monitoring for 1-2 device is unreasonable.

"i worry about our monitoring system which triggers incidents on the CPU utilization spikes continuously."

Yes, that's indeed an annoying aspect.

If you have maintenance on them, you can do as Leo suggests.

Thanks everyone for your reply.

We are getting threshold alerts from our monitoring system for high cpu utilization.

What  threshold value need to be set to avoid this alerts for this expected behavior.

Vijay
