Kiku,

You can just replace the Fan tray rather than replacing te complete box.

Here is the part number for 3825:

ACS-3825-FANS=

3825 Fan assembly

You need to replace the complet fan assenbly not the one of the fan on the tray.

Below is the procedure to replace the same:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/routers/access/3800/hardware/installation/guide/hw/38comp.html

Q. Can you perform OIR on the fan tray?

A. Yes. The fan tray can be removed in a Cisco 3845 while the router is fully operational in order to service a redundant power supply. In  high-temperature environments, the fan tray should be reinstalled in a few minutes.

Question on creating the RMA:

======================

Called the Cisco and provide the serial number of your device or cisco contract ID associated with this box and they would be able to raise the case for you.

Raise a Cisco TAC Case (upper right-hand corner, under "Action").

TAC should send you a fan assembly including instructions on how to replace them.

Hi Leo,

Is RMA  needed?

Thanks,

~Kiku

Kiku,

Yes you need to get the FAn tray RMA. As based on the above output:

*Sep  9 08:12:37.361: %FAN-3-FAN_FAILED: Fan 2 had a rotation error reported.

Fan  2 Failed>.. Fan 2 has been failed.

There is nothing much troubleshooting can be done on the Fan tray.

I suspect the part number to be:CISCO3845FANASSY=

You can raise TAC case and ask them for RMA this part if you have the valid contract with cisco.

We are thinking of raising an RMA,but my doubt is whether to raise RMA on Fan assy or complete Router.Because we cannot get the part number through console output, also i cannot open the Router and note the Fan part number.

I think part number is necessary to raise an RMA,and also how can we identify that particular fan is Fan-2,are they labelled ?

If i cannot trace the part number ,what should be done in this case?Kindly suggest .

Thanks,

Kiku
