Just got a bunch of 3850's to replace our 3750's and I want to upgrade to the latest version of the OS. Went online and downloaded 3.7.3E, installed it on USB then put it on the switch.
Once on the switch I did:
conf t
boot system switch all flash:cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.07.03.E.152-3.E3.bin
exit
write
reload
When it came back up I noticed the following message:
"The System is using a non-recommended Boot mode.
Not all features may be available in this boot mode.
Please check the product configuration guide."
Is there a better way to do this?

This may be a cleaner way software install instead of IOS boot command

EDIT: Heres Cisco official link showing it also with the clean option --software clean

That fixed it with a couple tweaks.
