Hello Everybody,
I got a switch, Cisco-3850, which should have an EEE support for 2.5/5Gbs speeds, as it was described in datasheet https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-3850-series-switches/datasheet_c78-720918.html
"24 and 48 100Mbps/1/2.5/5/10 Gbps Cisco UPOE models with Energy-Efficient Ethernet (EEE)"
But, it looks like that it has just a support for EEE with 1/10Gbs.
Root(config)#interface GigabitEthernet1/0/36
Root(config-if)#speed ?
10 Force 10 Mbps operation
100 Force 100 Mbps operation
1000 Force 1000 Mbps operation
auto Enable AUTO speed configuration
Root(config-if)#power ? -> so works fine
efficient-ethernet Energy efficient ethernet Configuration
inline Inline power configuration
When I switched to ports with 2.5/5Gbs speed EEE is not even highlited.
Root(config)#interface Te1/0/39
Root(config-if)#spee
Root(config-if)#speed ?
100 Force 100 Mbps operation
1000 Force 1000 Mbps operation
10000 Force 10000 Mbps operation
2500 Force 2500 Mbps operation
5000 Force 5000 Mbps operation
auto Enable AUTO speed configuration
Root(config-if)#power ? -> there is no eee like above, why?
inline Inline power configuration
Do you know where is the problem?

I'm having the same problem with a C9300UX-A. Says it supports EEE in documentation but I can't enable it. I only get the power inline option. No power efficient option on any port. I just updated to the recommended firmware hoping that was it, but no change. Can't believe there are no other discussions going on about this and no one has answered you.

Hi Robert,
It has been already resolved. I submitted a ticket for Cisco TAC some weeks ago for lack of feature in 2.5/5Gbs on EEE, and they told I was right. They said there is a hardware bug, and is supposed to correct the documentation soon not to make a mess for customers anymore.
Regards.
