Cisco 3850 switch ios boot sequence

Hello,

If I have 3850 switch configured with the boot flash command twice such as boot flash: ios1 and then boot flash:ios2 for the switch to automatically load to ios2 in case ios1 doesn't work or with configuring only once boot flash: ios1 no need for boot flash:ios2 to automatically load to ios2 in case ios1 doesn't work?

Thanks,

Hi,

Can you post the output of "sh boot"?

HTH

Switch 1
---------------------------
Current Boot Variables:
BOOT variable does not exist

Boot Variables on next reload:
BOOT variable = flash:packages.conf
Allow Dev Key = yes
Manual Boot = no
Enable Break = no

How many "packages.conf" files do you have on flash?

can you post the output of "dir"?

or

boot system flash: ?

flash:packages.conf  means the switch is running in installed mode;

see if u have .bin file, may not have it anymore.  if not, get it back to flash. then set boot to .bin file

boot flash:/cat3.x.x.name.of .ios .bin

reload,

Hi,

you should refer to packages.conf and the second boot command to packages.conf.backup

take also a look, if you have packages.conf.00 file, IOS-XE attempts to preserve previous Version for the rollback command and .00 is then the packages.conf file from previous version

for how long rollback packages.conf is stored ? is not like a 45 minutes or so ?
