Cisco 4510 VSS issue

Hi ,

We have 2 cisco 4510R+E (SUP8-E) switches configured in VSS mode. Also IP Routing is enabled. Recently we had an issue that a PC which is connected on switch 1 is not able to ping PC connected on switch 2 irrespective of vlan.

however if both the PC's are connected in same switch then we were able to ping vice-versa irrespective of vlan. 

we were able to learn the mac address on either of the switches for both PC's only ping was not working.

IOS XE version : (cat4500es8-UNIVERSAL-M), Version 03.06.00.E

Post reload of the standby switch issue got resolved, customer wants to know the possible reason behind it.

Any help would be appreciated.
