My organization has datamax printers and we are running into an issue that I have never come across.
For a specific stack (5 switches), when I plug the device in the port goes active for about 5 seconds and then dies. I check the logs and I do not see anything out of the norm. Just the port going up, and then down.
When I connect to a different stack (4 switches) on a different floor, the device connects as it is supposed to and I can ping within 10 seconds.
The only thing that is somewhat strange is that even though the device uses wall power, it requests PoE, and then recognizes it has it's own power and then turns it to off. I have tried turning PoE on both the switch that works, and the one that doesn't and nothing changes.
These stacks both run 17.6.03 and have the same physical setup. Redundant power supplies, data stack, and exact same port configuration.
I am completely stumped.

I see this all the time with 3850 on 16.12.X.
Basically, a process in your 9300 has crashed. The only workaround, that I am aware of, is to cold-reboot the offending switch member.
Upgrading the firmware will not be useful because there is no guarantee other versions will have this fixed.

It seems like there may be a compatibility issue between the Datamax printers and the specific stack of switches that you are experiencing issues with.
I would recommend trying the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Check the logs of the switch to see if there are any error messages related to the port going down. This could give you more information on what might be causing the issue.
Try connecting the printer to a different port on the same switch to see if the issue is specific to that port or if it is a problem with the entire stack.
Check the power requirements of the printer and compare them to the power that is being provided by the switch. Make sure that the printer is receiving enough power to function properly.
Check the configurations of the switch that is working correctly and compare them to the switch that is having issues. Look for any differences that might be causing the issue.
Check if there is any firmware updates available for the switch and apply it if any.
6.Check for loop and check the port security of the switch.
7.Check for any other devices connected to the same switch which might be causing the problem.
These steps should help you identify the cause of the issue and determine a solution. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Datamax or Cisco support for further assistance.
Please rate this and mark as solution/answer, if this resolved your issue
All the best,
