Cisco 9410R Installation of secondary supervisor

Hi Guys,

I am replacing a secondary supervisor module in a 9410R and I can't see anything in the documentation in terms of commands that are needed once the supervisor engine has been installed.

I believe that the active supervisor will cascade configuration, but would I need to install the IOS on the secondary to match?

Are there any additional commands that I need?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Yes, you need to load the same exact IOS on the secondary sup in order to be able to use SSO and have full sup redundancy.

Once that is all done, you can verify the operation by using "sh redundancy".

If all working, the first sup should be active and the second sup hot standby.

Just to add:  The firmware must both be "applied" the same way:  Install or Bundle Mode and not both.

If there are SMU updates, apply them all to the replacement first.

Thank you both for your replies.

Can you please confirm if I need to use any commands to change the configuration, or will it definitely cascade down from the active sup?

Thanks
