Cisco 9606R - PVST to connect 6506 having PVST

Greetings,

Can we configure the old PVST on new cisco 9600/9500 to connect spanning tree with an existing 6506 having PVST?

Kindly advise the best way to conect before we remove 6506 out

Personally i do not see any issue IOS XE do support your requirement : ( but if you moving to new world i take advantage of new featured rapid pvst)

Problem is the live existing 6506 is having PVST configured , so we need to follow it on new 9600 being connected to 6506

9500 config guide is showing PVST+. Can PVST be configured?

difference between pvst  and pvst+

802.1q (standard) supports only one single instance of STP

•     native VLAN (Common Spanning Tree) 
  
•     one STP instance -
  

PVST (Cisco proprietary)

•     Support one STP instance per each VLAN
•     uses ISL trunk only.
•     Doesn't support 802.1q

PVST+ (Cisco proprietary) Enhance PVST capabilities by allowing to transport PVST over 802.q :

•     native VLAN over "Common Spanning Tree"
  
•     Each per-VLAN STP is encapsulated using a special Multicast MAC and transported
