We have a Cisco WS-C2690XR-48LPS-I V06. Every two days it locks up. The LED on the front are solid. The mode switch does not work. You can not ping the device, and using the console cable does not. You have to do a reboot to gain access again. Thus you lose the logging files. When it is locked up some of the edge devices still communicate others lose communication. What can be causing this lock up?

Seems like a hardware issue. You can upgrade the software once and if that does not fix it, RMA it back to Cisco for replacement.
