Cisco Catalyst 9200 Switch Active/Standby Failover

I have a network that needs two cisco catalyst switches for HA requirements. The way I want the switches to operate are the way the Cisco ASAs work in active/standby. When one switch fails I want all traffic to pass through the "standby" switch. I am having trouble figuring out how to do this. I want to configure these through the ethernet ports, we are not using the stackwise options.  Thanks!

If you don't want to do stackwise then use HSRP.

Is HSRP available on switches? I thought it was only for routers?

I keep getting "Unrecognized Command" when I try to use the standby command while configuring my vlan. Is there other configuration that has to take place in order to enable this command on my switch?

Post the complete output to the command "sh version".
I want to see what license level the appliance came with.

So i was informed that by using HSRP or VRRP I would be implementing a layer 3 solution. I need to implement a failover solution at layer 2. We currently have active/standby ASAs on both sides of the switches. I want those switches to work in the same one, one switch passes all the traffic until it dies and then the second switch takes over. Is that possible from a layer two perspective?
