Cisco IOS version question for 3750

We are currently running

c3750e-universalk9npe-mz.122-55.SE3.bin and we wanted to know the latest code/train for us to download.

Another question is

WS-C3750X-24T-S and we are using c3750e code it looks. Could this be an issue since we don't have c3750E?

12.2(55)SE8, period.

DON'T BOTHER with 12.2(58)SE or 15.0(1)SE or 15.0(2)SE.  If you need something in the 15.X, then 15.0(2)SE4.

Regarding to the second question:

Even when the image name says 3750e it's still for a 3750x so don't worry about that, it's normal.

My opinion ...

Be careful when you load 15.2(1)E.  There's one person who loaded this version into his 3750X and the appliance does nothing but crash.  Read this.

12.2(58)SE2 is an IOS I wouldn't even attempt to load even if my life depends on it.  Beautiful CPU bugs.  Gave me a few days of sleepless nights.

15.0(2)SE4 is a contender.  But make sure you don't use this version if you have 802.1x AND/OR PoE enabled.  If you do have either one (or both), avoid at all cost.

what bugs you are hitting with 15.0(2)SE4 with 802.1x and / or PoE enabled? is this only related to the 3750, or also 3750-x, 3560-x and 2960s?

I haven't hit any major bugs with 802.1x and/or PoE using 15.0(2)SE4 running on 2960/2960S, Michael.

Each of our >100 sites have the same network topology:  3750/G (with 16 mb flash) are our distro and 2960/2960S are our access switches.  We are not using 15.0(2)SE4 on our 3750-series switches.

This is my main reason why I am cautioning everyone when using 15.0(2)SE4 on 3750-series switches because I do not have the opportunity to test and we won't have the opportunity because we are replacing them with ME-3800X.   I am using 15.0(2)SE4 on 3560E with PoE and 802.1X and they seem to be working fine.  I have not seen any issues and tracebacks.

i have also a good experience with 15.0(2)SE4 and the 2960s.

i have this IOS running on some switches since it has released - the next weeks we will upgrade to this image on all 2960s.

i am only a little bit surprised about the I/O MEM Utilization - this is about 70 - 80%.

on the 3750-x i have also a good experience with that image.

what i don´t like on 12.2(55)SE7 or 8 is, that with AAA (TACACS+) i have the issue, that when a SSH-Session times out, the CPU run´s at 100% and no login´s are possible from this moment on (SSH/TELNET/CONSOLE).

That's odd.  I always use SSH when I remote into our switches and I don't see this high CPU in my 3750 fleet.

--> it´s only happening, when i am using Authentication/Authorization/Accounting over TACACS+.
