Folks,

I have cisco nexus switch 93128TX (running version nxos.9.3.4) with M12PQ GEM module. I want to terminate 10G fiber on it so i bought CVR-QSFP-SFP10 adapter from fs.com https://www.fs.com/products/72582.html

Now cisco saying i have to configure speed-group range to turn 40G to 10G port and port range has to be 1-6 & 7-12 so on port e2/1 i set speed-group 10000 and it accepted my command but then i noticed following in my show interface output and don't know what is wrong here. does that means fs.com adapter not supported on cisco nexus 93128TX?

# show int e2/3 transceiver
Ethernet2/3
    transceiver is present
    type is QSFP-40G-SR4
    name is FS
    part number is QSFP-SR4-40G
    revision is B
    serial number is F2010424009
nominal bitrate is 10300 MBit/sec per channel
Link length supported for 50/125um OM3 fiber is 150 m
    cisco id is 13
cisco extended id number is 16

Show interface

# show int e2/3
Ethernet2/3 is down (check speed-group config)
admin state is up, Dedicated Interface
  Hardware: 10000/40000 Ethernet, address: a46c.2ada.6942 (bia a46c.2ada.6942)
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 40000000 Kbit , DLY 10 usec
  reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255
  Encapsulation ARPA, medium is broadcast
  Port mode is access
  auto-duplex, auto-speed, media type is 40G
...
...

it stuck in (check speed-group config). my port isn't coming up somehow. do you think fs.com isn't supported or i am missing something here (i did run service unsupported-transceiver command also)

Hi,

fs.com products usually work fine with Cisco equipment. Also, the fact that you see this shows the port is working.

 transceiver is present
    type is QSFP-40G-SR4
Can you try a different port like 1, 2 3, etc..?
HTH

This switches isn't in production so i have tried every single port also i have changed M12PQ to M6PQ GEM to just avoid strange 8 port limitation on this platform.

I have added speed-group command only on first port e2/1 hope that is correct way to configure. one more question why my above output showing 40G SR4 instead of 10G SFP?

type is QSFP-40G-SR4

Is this the exact part number for the module?

N9K-M12PQ

If yes, I don't see  CVR-QSFP-SFP10 listed in the comparability list.

https://tmgmatrix.cisco.com/?npid=137

You can also contact fs support team to make sure this is what you need.

HTH

Its listed and showing you when you hover mouse on icon that CVR is required. not sure if i am reading it wrong. i did contact them and they are trying to test in lab but this is kinda urgent for me.. i have order cisco original QSA module so lets see if they work or not.

I see. Thanks for pointing that out. I hope, it will get resolved quickly.

Wow, so the issue is with fs optics. If you work with fs's support, they will resolve this issue on their side.

This is great. Thanks for the feedback!
