Cisco replacement router

I have cisco 2800 routers. I am getting 2911 routers. The 2800 is under cisco smartcare. Would smartcare give me free support to get the 2800 config to the 2911 or would a smartnet get the help in getting the config from the 2800 to the 2911. I am just replacing hardware no new config.

So all I need to is copy the config sftp from old router put the iOS on the new router and restore the config to the the new router.

Mostly, copying the config from one router to the other (as long as the correct interfaces and modules are named correctly) will work fine.  IOS, however, is different as the IOS for the 2800 will NOT work for the 2900.

Would it copy all the settings and password also to the new router or do I need to do some tweaking?

Passwords, no.  Settings yes.  Such as interface type.  The 2800 has FastEthernet interfaces but the 2900 has GigabitEthernet so you'll need to edit the config beforehand.

You don't need SmartNet to copy the config from the 2800 to the 2900.   SmartNet is for maintenance like when your router fails.

You, however, need a valid Service Contract to download IOS for the routers.

Okay I will try that.
