Dear all,

we have C9500-24Y4C Datacenter switch which is about 1 year old. Lately we are getting following alert from the switch;

Temp: Outlet_B   R0                Normal            40 Celsius

Temp: Inlet_A    R0                Minor             46 Celsius

Temp: Inlet_B    R0                Normal            43 Celsius

We have managed our datacenter at 20 degree temperature even though inlet A is showing a bit high temperature. what might be the cause? please suggest.

Hi,

The 20 degree that you are referring to is the room temperature and not the device itself. Depending on the rack mount type, the rack or cabinet type you have installed, the device temperature can be within 5 to 10 degrees higher than the room. If you want to lower the temperature on the device then you would have to lower the temperature for the room and keep an eye on it for a while to make the device temperature also change.

Hi, i have the same issue too. other devices in the same rack show 15 degree less inlet temperature. Also the outlet temperature is lower then the inlet temperature like show here in the first post.
