Cisco to Dell

I have a cisco 4500-x that will talk to our Netapp stroage and a Dell powerconnect 5424 that talks to our Equallogics.  I need the two to talk to each other I have a 10g sfp in the port on the 455-x and a 1g sfp on the port on the dell.  I have the ports configed for the same vlan and both set to trunk yet no connection.

The 10G SFP cannot drop down to 1G speeds. You will need to use a 1G SFP for the uplink to the PowerConnect switch.

Thank you I put in a 1g sfp non supported though.  I got a link on both sides but could not ping from cisco or the dell to the other.
