Cisco WS-C2960X-48FPS-L SFPs (GLC-Sx-MM) not working

I am trying to connect two 2960X switches with SFP's . The ports show down and down. If I do show inv, the system shows the SFP. If I try to run any of the Show Interface Transceiver commands it does not find the SFP on either switch.

An SFP should put out light as soon as its plugged in? Should I not be able to see the SFP by running the Show Int Transceiver command?

I am running IOS (C2960X-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.2(4)E on both switches.

SFP's :

NAME: "GigabitEthernet1/0/49", DESCR: "1000BaseSX SFP"
PID: GLC-Sx-MM         , VID:      , SN: OPA12200539

The ports show down and down
-> one of this "down's" is administratively down --> so the port configuration is "shut"
as the port is shutdown it wil NOT light!
go into interface configuration mode and do "no shutdown"

Sorry if I miss communicated. The port in not shut down. When you show interface it show's down and down not connected.

Check the fibre patch leads, If you have other SFP try with different working one.

The fiber is good. I am wondering if the SFP's are bad. Going to switch them out this week

its worth checking with working SFP one always, before we jump in to other issues.

Take both SFPs and put them into the same switch.
IMPORTANT: Make sure portfast is disabled.
Connect the two SFPs together.
Did the link lights go on or not?
If not, then the problem is either the SFP or the cable.

I will try it tomorrow evening
