I need to configure a description on the IE1000 ports. Tried the graphic configuration but didn’t find how to do it.
Is it supported? If yes, would you please send a pointer to the documentation on how to do it?

here is the link to the hardware installation guide
attention:
pay attention to step14. Remove the PC and connect the switch to the network as configured in step 12.
Note: After power cycling, the IE1000 will not act as DHCP server. DHCP Server behavior is special to Express Setup. to reconnect to the IE1000 after the power cycle you will need to A) configure a static IP Address on your PC that is in the same subnet as the IP Address you just assigned, or B) connect to the new IP Address of the IE1000 from the network.
on the second tab "configure" you will find an option to add port descriptions in the GUI.
as last resort you can allways telnet/SSH into the switch and use the CLI.
correction this model is Web GUI interface only

@Mark Malone and to confirm for anyone else visiting this page, there is no 'conf t' command available on the IE1000 (Industrial Ethernet). However after updating the switch firmware from 1.8.2 --> 1.9.2 port descriptions are now available in the web GUI under 'port settings' as they should have always been.
